What is High Security Registration Plate (HSRP)

Benefits of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP)

The conventional and old number plates are very easy to tamper with and can be changed quite easily.

  • Usually, the first thing most thieves do after stealing a vehicle is to replace the registration plate, making it difficult for the police and authorities to track that stolen vehicle.
  • HSRP’s are affixed by automobile dealers and private vendors approved by the state authorities. The details of a car, like engine number, chassis number, etc. are stored in a centralized database.
  • HSRPs come with non-reusable snap locks which makes it difficult for thieves to replace the registration numbers, making it almost impossible to track the identity of the vehicle.
  • The HSRP plates are tamper-proof and have non-reusable locks which reduces the chance of installing duplicate or faulty plates.

Difference between HSRP and Normal Number Plates?

The normal number plates issued before April 2019 are metallic and have the registration number of the vehicle in black lettering. The HSRP is made of aluminium and has two non-reusable and tamper-proof security locks. In case someone breaks these locks, you must buy a new one from an authorized dealer as the HSRP plate cannot be reattached.
